BAKING SAT 26 MARCH (SCOTCH EGGS ARE ON AGAIN THIS WEEK)

Savoury Brioche Tart

If you would like to collect from my home in CH2 between 3pm and 6pm on SATURDAY 26 MARCH or request a free local delivery please place your order by e-mail or phone as soon as possible. If you haven’t been here before I’ll supply directions when I confirm your order.  Any volunteers to help with deliveries will beappreciated.

NEXT BAKES after 26 Mar:  Sun 3 April for Abbey Leys Farmers’ Market in High Legh near Lymm from 1000 until 1300; Sat 9 April for collections from my home1500 – 1800 and free local deliveries.

For this  SAT 26 MAR I’m planning to make the following (all with certified organic flours as usual).  All bread and other yeasted products this week are suitable for both vegetarians and vegans unless otherwise noted.

BREAD WITH BAKERS’ YEAST

400g Traditional White – £2.50

800g Traditional White (boule) – £3.80

400g Miracle Bread – £3.00

Miracle Baps (in bags of four) – £3.00

600g Wheat and rye with caraway seeds – £3.40

GENUINE SOURDOUGH WHOLEGRAIN ‘HEAVIES’ (naturally leavened without bakers’ yeast)

570g  Borodinsky Stoneground Wholegrain Rye Sourdough Tin  with coriander seeds  - £3.60

800g  Stoneground Wholegrain Spelt Tin – £4.00

OTHER YEASTED PRODUCTS

Giant Chelsea Buns (traditional) – £2.20 each

Giant tea-cakes (per bag of four) – £4.00

CAKES ETC

Harry’s Cake - for lovers of nuts and stem ginger £16.00 per kg. Whole cakes cost between £7.50 and £9.00.  Half-cakes are also available.  Will keep for at least amonth in your fridge.

Bara Brith – bbe 18/4/22 – £4.50

Walnut Pie – will keep for at least one month in your fridge. Suitable for vegetarians but not suitable for vegans   A whole pie (10 – 12 inch diameter*) costs £24.00or you can choose any number of slices for £3.00 each. 1 slice is 1/8 of a pie and is easily enough for two portions.  If you order more than one slice I will supplythem in one piece so that you can choose yourself where to cut. Whole pies or slices will keep for at least a month in your fridge and can be frozen for up to 6months.  *10″ diameter pies are slightly deeper than 12″ dia.  Both sizes weigh the same.  Sorry but it isn’t possible to choose which diameter unless you areordering a whole pie.

SAVOURIES

Giant Scotch Egg with award-winning free-range rare-breed pork from Pen y Lan Pork and Chinese Five-Spice – £3.80

Individual potato-topped pie with spiced butternut squash and sweet potato (suitable for veggies and vegans) – £3.50 or 2 for £6.00

Spiced butternut squash and sweet potato pasty (suitable for veggies and vegans) - £3.00

Savoury Brioche Tart with tomatoes and basil or with broccoli and stilton. Whole rectangular tart – £13 (approx 30 x 20 x 2.5 cm).  Half rectangular tart £7.Quarter rectangular tart £3.60.  (No round tarts this week.) One quarter is sufficient for two portions. Will keep in your fridge untilWednesday evening and can befrozen for up to 6 months.
