Vey sorry but can’t bake this weekend.  Now hoping to be fit enough to bake Sat 12 June (collections from my house and local deliveries) and Sat 19 June (Taste Cheshire Market on Chester Town Hall Square).  More news w/c 6 June.

Traditional white - THE loaf for toasting!

THE TASTE CHESHIRE MARKET on Chester Town Hall Square on Sat 17 April is now (13/4) confirmed .   The market  starts at 10am and finishes around 4pm.   My table should be in the usual spot at the base of the town hall steps (Princess St side).    Mary will be selling on my behalf. Pay in cash or by cheque (no card payments, sorry.) There is a Barclays ATM opposite.   I am not accepting orders for collection at the market.

Buns are smaller than tea-cakes and have a paste cross made with certified organic flour and certified organic rapeseed oil.  Buns are not glazed so they can be split and popped in your toaster without risk of burning (unless you don’t watch them!)

Mini Simnel Cake (made in a baked bean tin) – £4.50 gift wrapped in cellophane – £3.50 in a paper bag.  Same recipe as those I baked for Mothering Sunday when I placed crystallised edible flowers from my garden on the cakes. For 27 March you can choose: little balls of marzipan around the top (one for each apostle bar Judas) or a few Cadbury mini-eggs. I’m not offering crystallised flowers.

If you wish to collect from my home in CH2 between 1pm and 3pm (please note earlier times than usual), it’s essential to order.  If you haven’t been here before I’ll send directions when I confirm your order.

There is a possibility that the Taste Cheshire Market on Chester Town Hall will go ahead for food shopping from 10am till 4pm. If it does, my table should be in the usual spot and Mary will be selling on my behalf.  It’s not necessary to order but you can do so if you wish. Pay in cash or by cheque at the market. ‘Molly’ – £5.00   The recipe describes this as a ‘cake’ but think more Clootie Dumpling or even bread pudding.  It’s densely packed with apricots, figs, prunes, sultanas, raisins and dates but has no refined sugar. It’s suitable for vegans and will keep in the fridge for over a month.

Here’s what I’m planning to bake  for Abbey Leys (AL) and for collection from my home (H):

Abbey Leys Community Farmers’ Market in High Legh near Lymm in Cheshire will take place from 1000 till 1300.   Please note that not all items I am baking will be on sale at Abbey Leys as producers try not to compete with one another.

If you would like to collect from my home between 1400 and 1600 it’s essential to order in advance. If you haven’t been here before I will send you directions when I confirm your order.

If you live in or very close to Chester you can request a home delivery (no charge). If you’re willing to volunteer to help out with deliveries please let me know.
