Traditional white - THE loaf for toasting!

THE TASTE CHESHIRE MARKET on Chester Town Hall Square on Sat 17 April is now (13/4) confirmed .   The market  starts at 10am and finishes around 4pm.   My table should be in the usual spot at the base of the town hall steps (Princess St side).    Mary will be selling on my behalf. Pay in cash or by cheque (no card payments, sorry.) There is a Barclays ATM opposite.   I am not accepting orders for collection at the market.

Free delivery can often be arranged in or close to Chester (volunteers will be much appreciated).

Walnut Pie – £24 for a whole pie.  3.00 per slice (this is 1/8 of a pie and is easily plenty for 2 portions).  If you order more than one slice I will not cut them separately, meaning that you can choose portion size.  Will keep until at least 9 June  in your fridge or can be frozen

Harry’s Cake (for lovers of nuts and ginger) – £16.00 per kg. Whole cakes cost between £7.50 and £9.00.  Half-cakes are also available. Will keep till at least 8 June in your fridge in your fridge or can be frozen

Traditional Bara-brith – £4.00.  Will keep till at least 20/5/21 in your fridge or can be frozen

Lemon cake – £4.00 Will keep till at least 14/5/21 in your fridge or can be frozen

Apple Cake with apples from my garden – £2.50 for 2 portions. Keep in fridge.  Best within 1 week of purchase or can be frozen.

Almond slice with strawberry jam (berries from my garden) – £2.50 for 2 portions. Best within 1 week of purchase or can be frozen.

Apricot Energy Bars – £2.50 for a pack of two. Will keep in your fridge for at least 2 months.

VEGGIE & VEGAN SAVOURIES

Mild aubergine curry rolls £2.00 (suitable for vegans).  BBE Wed 21 Apr or freeze for up to 6 months.

Veggie parsnip and cashew nut roast – eat hot or cold – each roast serves 2 main portions – suitable for home-freezing £6 each or £11.00 for 2. BBE Wed 21 Apr or freeze for up to 6 months.

Buns are smaller than tea-cakes and have a paste cross made with certified organic flour and certified organic rapeseed oil.  Buns are not glazed so they can be split and popped in your toaster without risk of burning (unless you don’t watch them!)

Mini Simnel Cake (made in a baked bean tin) – £4.50 gift wrapped in cellophane – £3.50 in a paper bag.  Same recipe as those I baked for Mothering Sunday when I placed crystallised edible flowers from my garden on the cakes. For 27 March you can choose: little balls of marzipan around the top (one for each apostle bar Judas) or a few Cadbury mini-eggs. I’m not offering crystallised flowers.

There is a possibility that the Taste Cheshire Market on Chester Town Hall will go ahead for food shopping from 10am till 4pm. If it does, my table should be in the usual spot and Mary will be selling on my behalf.  It’s not necessary to order but you can do so if you wish. Pay in cash or by cheque at the market. Bara Brith – £4.00

‘Molly’ – £5.00   The recipe describes this as a ‘cake’ but think more Clootie Dumpling or even bread pudding.  It’s densely packed with apricots, figs, prunes, sultanas, raisins and dates but has no refined sugar. It’s suitable for vegans and will keep in the fridge for over a month.
